In line with our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, EMK Ltd. was the first company in Hungary to obtain the R4 and R8 waste recovery codes.\n\nR4 \u2013 Recovery and Recycling of Metals and Metal Compounds\nWithin this activity, we perform a critical step in the extraction of valuable metal content from next-generation batteries. The incoming battery waste is subjected to thermal treatment, during which the organic components are removed. This process results in a metal-rich alloy, which serves as a valuable raw material for further industrial processing.<\/p>

R8 \u2013 Recovery of Catalyst Components\nAs part of this operation, we apply thermal-based technology to remove organic pollutants from spent catalyst waste. This process also produces a metal-containing mixture, which can be commercially utilized as a secondary raw material.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Under standard operating conditions, our facilities use a wide range of primary and auxiliary materials for the safe disposal of diverse hazardous waste streams. To support and optimize these processes, we continuously explore alternative materials that can replace existing ones without compromising efficiency\u2014and, ideally, with reduced operational costs.\n\nBeyond literature and market research, our efforts extend to full-scale plant testing conducted in close collaboration with our operational teams. We not only organize but actively participate in these industrial trials. We are strongly committed to implementing technological developments that ensure full compliance with current BAT (Best Available Techniques) recommendations. This commitment inherently requires continuous technological advancement, which is accompanied by site infrastructure upgrades and related logistics development.\n\nWhile the main technological development processes fall under the responsibility of the Operations Department, the Development Team also plays a supporting role, particularly in the evaluation of new primary and auxiliary materials, where their expertise is indispensable.\n\nR&D activities also contribute significantly to the design of facility layout and site planning related to technological improvements. These plans are created in close cooperation with the relevant departments, always taking into account the specific requirements and operational characteristics of waste pre-treatment and processing activities.\n\nAs part of the infrastructure development, particular emphasis is placed on production and distribution logistics, especially the sub-processes of storage, internal servicing, and internal material flow.
